Firewheel
Hello Friends,
Per a search with Google lens, ... "The image illustrates two distinct stages in the reproductive cycle of Gaillardia pulchella, a native North American wildflower popularly known as the Blanket Flower or Firewheel ... The upper flower head is in full bloom ... The lower structure shows what happens after successful pollination ... The spiked, bristly projections are maturing fruits known as achenes. As these dry further, they change from green to brown/white, indicating they are ready to shatter, disperse in the wind, or be eaten by wild birds like goldfinches."
I shot this a few weeks ago at the Bluff Heights (Long Beach) Garden Tour with my Panasonic Lumix GX7 with 3D lens, using frame sides for phantogram processing.
This coming week I'm looking forward to a trip to Albequerque for 3D-Con 2026 (https://www.3d-con.com/) an annual national conclave of 3-D enthusiasts like myself held by the National Stereoscopic Association. Hope to see you there.
It's been another disturbing week in our national and world politics as our president got back to embarrassing himself on the world stage and at home. More immigrant arrests, another high profile murder by ice agents, and on and on. Many of us continue to suffer from Ongoing Trauma Depression Syndrome, aka the DJT blues.
Wishing for better,
Barry Rothstein
