Rembrandt's The Windmill and Jan Uytenbogaert, the Goldweigher
Hello Friends,
Last week's images were conversions of well known, iconic images by Vincent Van Gogh. If you missed them they're worth a look in terms of how well they convert to 3D. In the Self Portrait with Grey Felt Hat image even the brushstrokes showed amazingly well in 3D.
Today's are conversions of etchings by the 17th century dutch painter Rembrandt. The top one is called "The Windmill", the lower one "Jan Uytenbogaert, the Goldweigher". I photographed them at the Rembrandt House Museum last week in Amsterdam. After that I cropped them and ran them through DepthMaker, a truly fun 2-D to 3-D phone app by Masuji Suto. Then I cleaned them up just a bit with Photoshop.
We got home on Tuesday night after a 26 hour travel day, following 16 days in the Netherlands, great trip. Between the ISU 3D convention in Wageningen and a week in Amsterdam, I've got a build up of an awful lot of images I'll be happy to share with you.
I'm relieved to report that despite missing a flight connection, returning home went without significant mishaps and I'm not yet enough of an annoyance for the Trump for them to mess with me.
By the way, for those who attended my "hand phantogram" workshop in Amsterday, the aspect ratio of the frame sides we used was 4 to 3, and not 5 to 3 as I'd originially thought.
I have a rant building up in me, but it can wait for next week. Until then,
Barry Rothstein
I send out a weekly email of these. If you'd like to be included, please go to the contact page and send me an email.
