Any Idea What These Are For?
Hello Friends,
It's fairly common practice in our neighborhood for people to lay down a box or boxes of potentially useful stuff near the rolling trash cans, more or less saying "take this if you want", sometimes accompanied by a small handwritten sign saying "FREE". I found these two wachmacallits in a box this way with the handwritten FREE sign, and thought they'd make for a good phantogram. I hope you agree. If you have any idea what they are of if they have any purpose other than as simply art objects, I'd be interested to hear back from you.
I set them onto an 11" x 14" piece of white cardboard and shot them with my Fuji W3, converted it into a phantogram in StereoPhoto Maker and did a little touch up in Photoshop.
We're getting closer to the mid-term elections, which I'm deeply hoping will significantly diminish Trump and MAGA's power. I have no doubt but that they'll do everything they can to disrupt the process and deny the validity of outcomes unfavorable to them. I implore you to vote and to boldly speak your mind to others and encourage them to vote. Now isn't the time to sit idly by to see what happens if you value democracy.
The single thing that caught my attention this week is something I can't speak about with any degree of authority. If I understand it at all, it's that Trump and Hegseth seem to be pushing for the US military's weapons to be controllable by AI without any over-riding human controls. Sounds crazy, right, and what could possibly go wrong? I'd like to think I'm entirely misinformed, I hope I am.
Wishing for better,
Barry Rothstein
