Stapillia ... Before and After Blooming
Hi All,
My neighbor Janine grows a number of cacti and succulents, and periodically holds plant sales. She kindly brought this one over to me before it bloomed when blooming was imminent, so I could photograph it.
It's a variety of stapillia, also known as stinky cactus, although I don't recall it smelling either good or bad. The bottom image shows it prior to opening up, the top image shows it's starfish shaped form after blossoming.
Both were shot with a Fuji W3. In the bottom pre-bloom image, I used the rectangular planter box holding it for phantogram processing, and in the top post-bloom shot I used frame sides around it for the same.
This morning I received an email from fellow stereographer David Tank with an idea about the much disputed border wall. Wrote David:
The border wall should be a giant phantogram. It could be laid down flat along the border, so one could see over it and it wouldn’t block any migrating animals. Basically, it would be invisible. However, all potentially dangerous folks on the southern side of the border would be issued anaglyph glasses and be required to wear them whenever they near the “wall." To them, it would look like there was a gigantic, impenetrable barrier.
Thanks David, and to any of you who wish to offer substantive commentary. And to all of us, wishes for a happy, peaceful and productive 2019.
