Lily Pond by Masuji Suto
Hi All,
To me the greatest living contributor to stereo photography is Masuji Suto of Japan. Several years ago he created StereoPhoto Maker (SPM), a program that has paved the way for many digital stereo photographers.
Elegant and intuitive, SPM was a gift Masuji-san gave freely to the world. He regularly continues to expand its functionality, including a phantogram capability, and has produced several other 3-D software tools such as StereoMovie Maker and StereoPhoto Viewer Applet.
SPM is easy to install and easy to use. It makes 3-D photography quick and accessible to anyone who wants to try, and it's an indispensable tool for addicts like me and my friends.
Making a 3-D image is fairly simple. Right eye shot. Left eye shot. With any ordinary digital camera, take one, slide over, take the other. Then let SPM compare the pixels in the two shots and put them together for you into a nice 3-D image. She-zam!
You can download SPM at http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/
A basic tutorial of SPM written by David Starkman and me is on my website at http://3ddigitalphoto.com/make3d.asp
It's challenging to get a complex nature shot to look good in anaglyph. I really like this one.

I send out a weekly email of these. If you'd like to be included, please go to the contact page and send me an email.
