If the Shoe Fits
Our first two nights on a trip to Germany this past summer were spent in Muenster. It's said to be a bit like Seattle, wet and green, although I think of it as pre big-tech Seattle. It's a small beautiful, extremely livable city, bicycle friendly to the extreme. The day we left we got up early and went to Muhlenhof Freilichtmuseum. According to it's website, "... Mühlenhof is a special open-air museum. 30 large and small buildings from the 16th to 19th centuries. Mostly they are original buildings that have been converted from their original locations in the rural Münsterland and Emsland into the open-air museum. Some others were reconstructed after old models. Inside, the houses are furnished with historical treasures that give an impression of the habits, circumstances and ways of working of the people who once lived here."
I shot this in a shoe maker's cottage, although I'm sorry to say I don't know what time period it represented. It was taken with a Fuji W3 stereo camera and I matched up pixels on a wooden work surface to turn it into a phantogram.
The past week's investigatory proceedings have been at very least entertaining, with some interesting new tidbits tying Trump directly to the action. While it won't turn a single true Trumpee's heart or soul, nor will House or Senate Republicans miraculously start to defend our country and the constitution instead of Trump, for the rest of humanity that's cares enough to pay attention, the vileness of our president and his enablers is in crystal clear focus.
I spent some time the last couple of days volunteering for the Warren campaign at the California Democratic Convention. A political convention is a very strange gathering of humanity. It seems by definition to include waving signs, chanting tag lines and drill slogans. I kept hearing the lyric 'horray for our side' running through my head. Our group was in competition with the enthusiasts for Bernie, Joe, Pete, Kamala, Amy, Tom, Andrew, Tulsi, Marianne, and others. I'm happy to say that every volunteer member of a competing candidates campaign I spoke to agreed that whichever candidate emerges from the national convention, we'll all work for to elect. Trump has truly united a lot of America.
