Wild Carrot / Queen Anne's Lace
Hello Friends,
According to wikipedia, ... "Daucus carota, whose common names include wild carrot, European wild carrot, bird's nest, bishop's lace, and Queen Anne's lace, is a flowering plant in the family Apiaceae. It is native to temperate regions of the Old World and was naturalized in the New World."
It's tiny white flowers form a round canopy, hence the "Queen Anne's Lace" name. The flowers are intersting but not a dramatic 3-D subject. In this shot you can see some of its flowers below on the right. I took this shot last week at Niagara Falls in New York. This weekend we're in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and I found the same species in the garden where we're staying. I guess they get around. I took this shot with a Panasonic Lumix GX7 with 3-D lens, using frame sides for phantogram processing.
If you're in or near Santa Fe and free this afternoon, please drop by the Santa Fe Children's Museum from 2pm to 4pm, where I'll be conducting a Science Saturday for a thus far unknown number of local kids. I drove here and brought a 3-D TV and two Fuji 3D cameras, the idea being to shoot some 3-D video here with the kids and show it on the 3-D TV along with some other fun content. Hoping all goes well.
Regards,
Barry Rothstein
