Another Dog Day
This is Coconut's second appearance on my image-of-the-week emails, the previous one a couple of months ago can be viewed at
http://3ddigitalphoto.com/ImageofTheWeek.asp?week=11-27-2021.
Often on weekdays I bring my dog Pepper and my Fuji W3 camera to a small unfenced local park where a bunch of us gather with out dogs in the late afternoon. Yesterday might've been a record, at one point I counted 22-23 dogs running around having fun. As such I get a lot of opportunities for good dog shots. I shoot down at an angle and try to keep the camera fairly level.
Then in photoshop I turn the left-right images into phantograms by placing guidelines to approximate a rectangle on the ground surrounding the dog in the right-eye shot, and then matching pixels of the corners in the left eye shot. Due to the effects of perspective the rectangles appear more-or-less as mirrored trapezoids in the left and right eye images. If this sounds confusing I apologize, but if you want more information on doing this I'm happy to reply with more details. I'm practiced to the point of it taking around seven minutes to work an image.
Regards,
Barry Rothstein
