Plumbago Auriculata
Hello Friends,
I don't recall where I shot this, but was able to identify it using Plant Net, a phone app, as plumbago auriculata. According to wikipedia its common names cape are leadwortor and cape plumbago, and is native to South Africa. It's an evergreen shrub, often grown as a climber, ascending rapidly to 6 m (20 ft) tall by 3 m (10 ft) wide in nature, though much smaller when cultivated as a houseplant.
Today is September 11, 2021, the 20th anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center in New York. It was a shock to most of us, a day that brought all of us in our country and the world together for an all too brief moment.
We in the USA are now experiencing division like I've never experienced. In the face of a global pandemic that has killed millions worldwide and well over 600,000 in the USA, elected officials of a certain political party have portrayed steps to save lives as an affront on our personal freedoms. Getting everyone vaccinated who can be vaccinated, and wearing face masks indoors in public spaces are the surest way to crush Covid and make us all safe, but in the zero sum game of partisan politics, there can't be gains that benefit both sides.
I'm glad to see the current administration's mandates to employers demanding employees be vaccinated or regularly tested. It's about time, while in the meantime hospitals in areas of low vaccination rates are being overrun to the point turning away people in dire need. I find it shocking how many first responders and health care workers fight getting vaccinated.
Voting rights are under attack, as are the right of women to have access to a safe abortion if they so choose. The rights of anyone wanting to own and carry guns are surging, as are so called religious choice rights. I'm less and less proud of being an American, or a human being for that matter.
Sorry for my negative rant, I wish I didn't feel the need for it.
Next weekend I'll be holding a zoom workshop on Saturday, September 18 at 10am pacific time on making "tabletop phantograms", hosted by the Los Angeles 3D Club. The link for it will be http://www.la3d.club. I'll be teaching:
1) how to shoot a tabletop phantogram with just a) a sheet of paper; and b) a cellphone (or any digital 2D or stereo camera).
2) how to process the phantograms in both Photoshop and StereoPhoto Maker
