Caution - Sharp
Hello Friends,
Last week's image-of-the-week was of Joshua tree seed pods taken at Spring Mountain Ranch on the outskirts of Las Vegas. Today's images were also taken there in late afternoon / early evening light just before the sun dropped behind the Red Rock Canyon hills.
I'm not sure what type of cactus I shot, although they may be related to cholla cacti I've shot and shown in the past. In any case I find cacti to be terrific stereo subjects, even if challenging to photograph without paying a price for the effort. As with all my macros of late these images were shot with a Panasonic Lumix GX7 with 3-D lens and frame sides for phantogram processing.
Tomorrow (Sunday) I'll be presenting a 15 minute video at a VSC (Virtual Stereoscopic Community) zoom meeting. The video more or less describes my many-year obsession with photographic phantograms and shows how they're made. The meeting will begin at 11:00 am pacific time. Info at VSC's website at https://stereosite.com/vsc-announcements/vsc-meeting-july-2022/. Later on I'll post the video on You-Tube and provide a link.
Also of note is the upcoming 3D-Con 2022 in Tacoma from August 1-8, at last getting back to the live in-person gathering we've not had since Covid. It'll be a busy few days as I'll be re-connecting with old friends, teaching a workshop, exhibiting in the art gallery, showing a stereo-theatre video of macro shots from Costa Rica, and hawking my books and cards in the trade fair. Hope to see you there. Info at https://www.3d-con.com/.
Regards,
Barry Rothstein
I send out a weekly email of these. If you'd like to be included, please go to the contact page and send me an email.
