Butterfly Shooter
Hi All,
Today Betsy and I are in Seattle. Our long time friend Dave summers here to be close to his father and friends. Today we met at the Zoo at Woodland Park, where I shot this in the butterfly tent. Dave, but the way is an outsanding amatuer nature photographer, especially with birds. This shot of Dave photographing a butterfly was taken with a Panasonic Lumix GX7 macro camera with its 3-D lens. This is not a phantogram, so I had the image auto-aligned in StereoPhoto Maker. Then I lightened all but Dave's hat and the butterfly. The image above is a "half-color anaglyph". A full color anaglyph using the red channel of the left eye shot and green & blue channels of the right eye shot would've have a lot of retinal rivalry because of the orange color of the butterfly.
In future image-of-the-weeks I'll be showing you a number of images from the zoo, ironically all plant life, as they're easier and more accssible to photograph than animals there.
This week in politics was even more nauseating than usual, if that's possible. I'm sick of listening to pols debate what is and isn't racist. It's pathetic that we have to respond to that man's unabated logorrhea, but in fact we do, and he knows it. It's a lose-lose game he loves to play.
I remember as a 6 or 7 year old being impressed with an "America: Love It or Leave It" bumper sticker. It sounded cool, so I got one and put it on my notebood. My dad was surprised by it. A marine radio operator, atop Mount Suribachi he relayed instructions for navy ships guns to support the invasion of Iwo Jima. Later he was part of the occupying forces in China and Japan. A crew-cut tough guy, he patiently explained to me the offensiveness of that sentiment. I got a new notebook.
Wake Up! Wake Up! Wake Up! This is serious stuff. Twenty years from now be able to say you were on the right side of history and didn't just watch it go by.
