Pepper at the Beach
Hello Friends,
We just got back from the central California coast. I have a fondness for quiet little beach towns, so we found a place to stay in Cayucos, the next town north of Morro Bay and south of Cambria, two more up-scale beach towns.
This shot was taken at William Randolf Hearst State Beach, whose entrance is exactly opposite the entrance to Hearst Castle. If you're ever in the area I strongly recommend this beach. Walk along it north, there's an easy hike up and you'll find a pathway to an enchanting peninsula of eucalyptus forest and a long series of cliffs overlooking the ocean. We've seen whales and various other sea life from up there.
Pepper is now 13-1/2 and perhaps nearing her end. She's at only 80 percent of her healthy weight of 52 pounds, and if her blood tests are to be believed, her kidneys are pretty much shot. Even so she's still the same sweet, happy girl I've known since her puppyhood. She comes with me to my various softball gatherings 3-4 mornings each week, and has hundreds of personal relationships with those she has encountered and come to know.
Best regards,
Barry Rothstein
