Iris
Hi All,
This, I believe, is some sort of iris. Betsy had long wanted a garden of draught resistant native plants, and she made her dream a reality several months ago. Now her efforts are paying off, and our front yard is a gleeful menagerie of colorful blossoms. This is one such. It was shot with a Fuji W3 camera with a Cyclopital Macro attachment. I shot it as a phantogram with a hollowed out piece of cardboard proving me a good reference frame.
On a personal note, the last few months have been the toughest in my life. My sisters and I cared for our ailing father Mickey, and this past week he died and was buried. He was a great man by all measures, a Marine radio operator on Iwo Jima, a successful California business founder, a husband, father, and grandfather, and a mensch of amazing proportions. A proud and supporting father, he would load and print all my images, usually much larger than they'd been intended for.
Awkward transition, but back to business. Regarding my phantograms competition, I'm ready to announce about winners and PRIZES!
CALL FOR ENTRIES: in the "First Annual Inter-Galactic Phantogram Competition and Exhibit". Entry deadline is May 15, 2012. Stereographers Achim Bahr, Terry Wilson, and Steve Hughes will be the panel of judges. Categories are: 1) Nature; 2) Live Subject; 3) Still Life; and 4) CGI. Images will be judged on iPads, and are to be submitted in RGB .JPG files. The iPad's native resolution is 1024x768 pixels, and images can be submitted either in vertical or horizontal orientation. Submitting images denotes a willingness to have them posted online, and to be exhibited in print or digital form. A maximum of six images per entrant will be allowed, and each will be allocated to one or more categories as applicable.
A winner, a second place, a third place, and up to six honorable mentions will be awarded in each category. PRIZES: the winner of each category will receive a Cyclopital Macro attachment for the Fuji W3. All first, second, third place and honorable mention winners will receive their choice of one of my books and a copy of Crossview 3-D (I seem to have a lot of those around).
