The Journey -- for Burning Man 2017
Hi All,
A popular exhibit at the Maker Faire in San Diego this past October was a scale model of "The Journey", which will be built at Burning Man 2017. Per their project manager, .....
"The art project conceived by artist Dan Reeves known as “The Journey” is a reflective, interactive experience for Burning Man 2017. The installation is inspired by the double-helix and is a mortise and tenon structure made of wood. The dimensions are 42’ in diameter by 10’ tall in the shape of a Torus. The main structure creates an 8’ interior corridor that circumnavigates an inner courtyard. The project is dynamically lit with interactive LED lights and includes other pre-programmed visual and audio workings. Further information may be found at http://www.thejourneyproject.org. Contact: Lee Hemingway, Project Manager, leehemingway@gmail.com.
Having met some people with the project that Saturday, I came by and photographed this on Sunday morning before regular Maker Faire hours. I set up the shot with usable rectangular framing for phantogram processing, a tall extended tripod, and shot it with a Fuji W3.
