Magnolia seed inside the blossom
Since moving to our current mid-city neighborhood in Long Beach I've become a big fan of magnolia trees, seeing several every day on my walks. They're characterized by large white blossoms that enclose these intricate seeds. Most of the magnolia trees in our area are tall to the point that the blossoms are well out of reach, but occasionally I find a tree with one or more blossoms low enough to reach. Sometimes the blossom is gone and you'll find a fully formed seed on the tree, otherwise look inside the blossom and you'll be rewarded with a view something like this.

I took these shots with a Panasonic Lumix GX7 with 3D lens, using a hollow wooden rectangle for phantogram processing.
