Cactus Blossom in Santa Fe and a short rant
Hello Friends,
Here's a cactus blossom I found in Santa Fe, New Mexico last week. I shot it with my Panasonic Lumix GX7 with 3D lens and frame sides for phantogram processing. The petals extended over my frame side so I masked them.
Short rant:
July 1, 2024 is a day that will live in infamy in the USA, the day our Supreme Court gave up on democracy and extended vast power and immunity from prosecution to the president. It would appear to be a gift to DJT, delaying and possibly eliminating his trial for the events of and around January 6. If that man is elected to return to the White House, our country will become a very different place.
Joe Biden is old, and so is Donald Trump. Neither man should be our next president.
Biden has worked to improve things for middle and lower class Americans. Unemployment is down and wages are up, but unfortunately inflation is higher that we can comfortably accept. He's been highly successful at nurturing the US economy and restoring international order and cooperation with our allies. Despite this his popularity ratings are low.
In contrast Trump's presidency was a self-serving disaster, including his botched handling of Covid. He's intentionally divisive and helped mostly the wealthy. He supports Putin's aggression and authoritarian rule, which he hopes to cement in the USA. Another Trump presidency will be catastrophic.
I don't see any choice other than to do what I can to prevent Trump from obtaining another term. I trust Biden and Harris to try to do their best to keep things together in these difficult times. I trust Trump to work entirely for himself.
Best regards,
Barry Rothstein
