Just an Ordinary Roadside Weed
Hi All,
Driving from southern California up to Seattle and back, up on the 5, back on the 101 (highway 5 and highway 101 for those of you not from California), these white flowers are ubiquitous. Mostly you just pass them by and don't think about them. Searching online I think they could be Bishop's flower, Queen Anne Lace or some form of angelica or yarrow. Maybe you can enlighten me.
If you stop and have a closer look, you'll find this plant in its various stages, and these are truly extraordinary, a stereographer's dream. Have a look. These four shots were taken with my Panasonic Lumix GX7 with 3-D lens and frame sides for phantogram processing. These were shot on Little Island which is located in the Columbia River near the town of town of Cathlamet, Washington.
As to today's rant:
The debates this past week were disappointing and annoying, like watching children loudly boasting and telling on each other. Way too much bragging and whining. The only clear winners were Trump and Republicans.
The good news is that it's still very early in the game, so hopefully we can learn from this. The questions the candidates were asked, focused mostly on their policy disagreements, seemed intent to call on Republican talking points, criticizing various Democrat's plans. It forced the candidates to make themselves try to explain complex policy problems out loud and hear whether they made any sense that way. Most candidates fell into the trap of beating up on their opponents and overly defending their own specific plans.
Regarding healthcare in America, we need to agree that Obamacare isn't all it could be, but it was a genuine start and good first step towards the universal coverage we want. It was hard to get passed, and the best the Obama administration thought it could do at the time. We need to stop arguing about what's the exact right solution, and agree that once we've won the White House, the Senate and the House, only then will we be able to implement any real policy decisions. To do so we need the candidates to be civil and respectful of each other.
Similarly on the issue of immigration, we need to vote in representatives that represent American ideals and values, and get rid of those whose main goal is to maintain power from a minority position by seeking division among us and eliminating all immigration to our country.
Candidates please, we need to find and treasure common ground, and face head on our enemies in the White House and Senate. I'd greatly prefer any of the twenty who took to the stage than continue to see Trump's push to grab money and power and destroy our great country.
