Artichoke
Hi All,
The scarcity and value of water have prompted Betsy and me and many people around us to say goodbye to lawns. Instead we plant native species or others that can live in a low water environment. One of these is the common artichoke.
According to a quick google search, .. the artichoke is a perennial in the thistle group of the sunflower family and is believed to be a native of the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands. ... Today most artichokes grown worldwide are cultivated in France, Italy, and Spain, while California provides nearly 100 percent of the United States crop. My favorite way to make them is to lightly steam them, marinade in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic, and smoke them for an hour or so.
Getting close. Vote and encourage others to do so.
