Low Tide at Meyer's Beach
Hi All,
I took this shot and several others recently at Meyer's Beach, between Brookings and Gold Beach, at the Pistol River on the southern Oregon coast. At low tide you'll find hundreds of clumps or mounds (for lack of a better term) of clam, mussel and other sheels somehow attached and clinging to something below the sand. This is a great place to pull over on a northwest road trip.
Also in the shot you'll find a depression of Pepper's paw print. Apparently many to most of these beaches are OK for dogs. She loves running on the sand and the multitudes of sea life scents available.
One more note, a correction to last week's image of the week commentary. The creatures depicted were not Portuguese Man O' Wars, but instead "by-the-wind sailors" or Velella velella. Three readers corrected me on this, so much thanks.
