A Ball Dog
Hello Friends,
I'm a little embarrassed to say I don't know the name of this dog I photographed last week, she's a happy, active lab mix. I've found the best way to get good active pictures of a dog is to get the pet's owner to stand near me and hold up a favorite object, in this case a ball, as if preparing to throw it. It's up to me then to frame the shot and shoot a few times hoping for one good one.
I shot this with a Fuji W3 and turned it into a phantogram by approximating a rectangle around the dog (on the photograph a trapezoid) on the right eye image and matching up pixels of blades of grass on the left eye image.
This past week couple of weeks two friends in the 3D community died, and I want to mark their passing. Andrew Hurst of the UK was a regular at NSA and ISU gatherings, always friendly and fun to hang out with. Shab Levy was from Portland, Oregon, and was a friend and mentor, and did some early work in phantograms. I was sorry to hear of their passings.
And finally, a reminder about the special holiday pricing on my 3D books. At http://www.3ddigitalphoto.com/books.asp use the promo code HALF to get half off on Macrophant 3D, Pop-Up 3D, and Phantograms from Nature, and as an added incentive buy three of any single book and receive a fourth book of that for free.
Regards,
Barry Rothstein
I send out a weekly email of these. If you'd like to be included, please go to the contact page and send me an email.
