At JAXA Tsukuba Space Center (and some commentary)
Hello Friends,
One the 'Science Day' excursions from the recent International Stereoscopic Congress was to JAXA Tsukuba Space Center. I'm guessing that the long tube I've shot here is a module for living in space, and perhaps the cylinder mounted above it is a communications/data center. If anyone knows more about their specific functions, please let me know.
I took these shots cha-cha style with my Google Pixel 6 Pro phone, and auto-aligned them with StereoPhoto Maker. The distance between the two shots was approximately six to eight inches. It's good to note that metalic objects usually work well in ansglyph 3D.
As to the commentary, ... sometimes I feel the need to speak out, so please bear with me, or ignore me, or perhaps unsubscribe.
For the past few weeks I've been anxiously watching the horrors unfold in Israel. I am a Jew, have some cousins in Israel, and as such have a stake in Israel's survival.
Hamas' attack on Israel was monstrous, murderous, evil. It was guaranteed to result in massive retaliation from Israel, which would undoubtably result in many deaths and suffering of countless Palestinians. I heard a theory that Hamas' leaders perceived their prospects and power as losing ground. Other arab nations including Saudi Arabia were moving toward recognizing Israel and normalizing relations. In striking as they did, it was said they hoped it would derail this movement, which it has.
Like many Jews in Israel and throughout the world, I've long opposed Netanyahu, and especially his recent authoritarian moves to eliminate Israel's judiciary oversight. His policies have caused more protesting in Israel than ever before, and this too might be why Hamas chose to strike, perceiving weakness and discord in Israeli society.
I don't expect resolution in my lifetime. But the world is watching.
Is it better for Israel to strike back so hard as to say 'this is what to expect when you make war on us'? Or should Israel's response be tempered with compassion and humanity that has historically been denied Jews?
Wishing for peace,
Barry Rothstein
