Scout - A Beauceron - Phantogram vs Traditional 3D Image
Hi All,
Say hi to Scout, a Beauceron puppy and recent addition to the neighborhood dog pack. Scout's colors are pretty spectacular. According to wikipedia "The Beauceron is a herding dog breed originating from the plains of Central France. The Beauceron is also known as Berger de Beauce or Bas Rouge." Scout is clever in his play fighting, typically dominating bigger dogs by grabbing their collars and/or harnesses.
For the sake of demonstration and comparison, I'm providing the same shot twice, above as a phantogram and below as a traditional 3-D image. The difference between the two is that in the phantogram (above) I've attempted to reverse out the effects of perspective by approximating how they'd be in the right eye image and matching up corner pixels in the left eye image. A phantogram is meant to leap off the page as if truly there. For viewing purposes, you're welcome to print them out, or else view them on an iPad or tablet computer. The top phantogram image should be viewed with the tablet laid flat onto a tabletop and viewed back from an angle. The traditional 3-D image (below) should be viewed straight on.
This week was mind-blowing, as protests following the death of George Floyd have continued and spread throughout the country and the world. Trump's stark attempt at authoritarian control of the protests against police brutality against black people was thankfully met with firm pushback from a number of respected retired and active military leaders. James Mattis, Trump's former Secretary of Defence denounced his tactics to a point of naming Trump a threat to our constitution.
The Trump administration and republicans this week mainly abdicated any responsibility for controlling COVID-19, criticized China, and investigated the Obama administration for investingating ties between Russia and Trump's 2016 campaingn. And, oh, yes, continued to push through young, conservative judges.
Their new boogy-man is "antifa", which loosely refers to militant anti-fascists. While I'm not in favor of a militant approach to solving our political problems, I'd have to say that if you're not anti-fascist, then you're not a real American.
