Leonardo Underfoot
Another new addition to our local dog pack is Leonardo, a rescue dog believed to be a Glen of Imaal Terrier. According to Wikipedia, their history dates to reign of Elizabeth I, who hired French and Hessian mercenaries to put down a rebellion in Ireland. After the conflict, many of these soldiers settled in the Wicklow area with their low-slung hounds, which they bred with the local terrier stock.
Among the quietest terriers, they are good hunting dogs, and according to one report they were also used as foot warmers, as they seem to have a penchant for sitting on their master's feet. True to this trait, watch out for Leo or else you'll likely trip over him.
I took this shot with a Fujifilm W3 and approximated it into a phantogram. Best viewed from above back at an angle on an iPad or tablet.
Coming soon: a few weeks from now there will be a joint national and international 3-D convention in Irvine, California, from August 8 to 14. The best days to attend are that Thursday through Saturday. Lots of good workshops and exhibits. http://www.3d-con.com/.
