Monsters
Hi All,
I love monsters, especially tragic fictional ones such as Frankenstein and Dracula. As such I was attracted to this one, and thinking about how cool it would be to make a phantogram of it. It was created by local Long Beach artist Christopher Wheeler, who I see from time to time on 4th Fridays, events held each fourth Friday evening on Fourth Street in Long Beach. Interestingly he created this from discarded plastic debris. Check out Christopher's work at https://godforge2003.tumblr.com/. I shot with with a Fuji W3 using frame sides for phantogram processing and newspaper as backdrop to cut down on ghosting.
This weekend is Maker Faire in San Mateo, and if rumors are true, it might be the last such one in the San Francisco bay area. Just a rumor, but that's the talk here. If you can stop by and see us. We're in Expo Hall which is in Zone 2. I'm shooting phantogram head shots at no cost other than the subject hanging around and helping work the image.
I don't think it's just me that finds way too many monsters in the news these days, from people with seemingly nothing to live for shooting to kill practically anyone else, to our president, on down through the US senate, various state legislations, as well as a growing number turning up as lifetime appointed federal judges. It seems they're everywhere, pushing us back to a time when white men ran practically everything and women mainly just had to put up with it. I'd so much like to un-demonize them, but I can't find it in me. I hope and pray that their time to be pushed aside is coming soon. I guess we'll see.
If you wonder what to do about it, I'd say look around and get involved. Find good things to do in your community, and look to volunteer for political candidates who are working for what you believe in. We're in this fight together, and it's one we must win.
