Hurrican Gulch
Hello Friends,
We're nearing the end of our Alaska adventure, flying back home tomorrow. Part of our trip involved taking a train from Anchorage to Denali National Park on Alaska Railroad's Denali Star train. It was relaxing and a lot of fun seeing the sights in comfort. One of the features of that ride was the bridge over Hurrican Gulch. According to Wikipedia the Hurricane Gulch Bridge is a 918 ft long steel arch railroad bridge that crosses Hurricane Gulch, Alaska. It is located at milepost 284.2, counting from Seward. At 296 ft above the Hurricane creek, it is both the longest and tallest bridge on the entire Alaska Railroad.
One fine thing about looking down from a moving train going over a bridge is that you can take a series of single 2D shots and any two of these shots can make up a stereo pair. I shot this with my Google Pixel 6 cellphone, shoot, shoot, shoot, etc, then looked for a good stereo pair. I used the cellphone app 3D Steroid Pro by Masuji Suto to auto-adjust the two chosen images. The app is very similar in functionality to Stereo Photo Maker, also by Masuji Suto. After that a little manipulation in Photoshop and this was the result. For the sake of mentioning it, this is not a phantogram.
Regards,
Barry Rothstein
