Clematis lasiantha
Hi All,
This double image of Pipestem / Chaparral Clematis comes from two different hikes, the top one a seed pod taken in July on the Cerra Alto Trail off highway 41 between Morro Bay and Atascadero, the bottom one shot in the Santa Monica mountains this past April. Both in flower and seed pod form they attracted my attention. Both of these images were shot with a Panasonic Lumix GX7 macro camera with 3-D lens, using frame sides for phantogram processing. In seed pod form trees full of them reminded me of Truffula trees from Dr. Suess's "The Lorax".
The democratic party debates this week were interesting. Everyone looked pretty good, despite Julian Castro's brief but ugly badgering of Joe Biden. I hosted an Elizabeth Warren debate watch party. She's my first pick, followed closely by Amy and Kamala. Please let this be the year we put a woman in charge of the white house. Think back to grade school, it was the girls who were nice and serious about things while most of they boys were knuckleheads (myself included).
The Trump administration continued its march to hell, highlighted by hightened cruelty toward asylum cases, a toxic white supremacist judicial nominee, the politization of the weather service, more details about the Air Force's repeated use of an airstrip near Trump's golf resort in Scotland, the Trump team belittling the monetization of the presidency, and on and on and on. Fortunately, impeachment proceedings are on the way, although the Senate will never vote to remove him from office.
